MVSC History

Mission Valley was established in 1967 and has been in operation ever since.

The developer of the adjoining neighborhood set aside this land for a park or recreation use area. Several neighbors got together an asked the city to sell them the land at a very low price if they would develop a recreational swim club. The city was very happy to have someone else spend the money to develop this recreational area due to their lack of money for such projects.

The original plan-scape called for a separate diving pool, put-put green, sand volleyball court, and gazebo with covered walkways around the ground.

Part of the original property at the southeast corner of the lot was given or sold to a church who owned the adjoining property where the bagel shop is today. This property was sold or traded at a later date and the retail store built.

Facts About the Club

Our swim club is a private, member owned pool with spacious grounds located at 20100 Las Palmas in the Fremont Mission Valley neighborhood. Open from May through September for swimming and social events. Memberships are available for purchase.

The Club is a large >1 acre lot with the following facilities:

  • a 25 x 14 yard main pool (6 lanes)
  • a wading pool for kids
  • a slide
  • lifeguards on duty during operating hours
  • the pool-side deck with plenty lounge chairs
  • two large BBQ areas and small kitchen
  • many picnic tables
  • large lawn areas with shade for hot days
  • lawn with volleyball net
  • ping-pong table
  • locker-rooms

A trip to a private swim club can bring back wonderful memories: Of a quieter, slower-paced time in which families had more time to enjoy the simple summer pleasures of sunning and swimming. Swim clubs are a place to meet neighbors, make friends and be with family. Swim clubs are about camaraderie and community.
